SUNDAY I ATE

Breakfast: Pancakes, bacon. The pancakes were some experimental lemon ones… very delicious, but maple syrup was all wrong
Lunch: Leftover Zachary’s pizza
Afternoon snack: Split a mocha thing from Peet’s with Tessa, which meant that I had to get decaf. Still, pretty good idea, since I didn’t need it all
Dinner: Experimental pork and apple pie. Really delicious, though it needed an extra flavor… maybe wine? or sage? Suzanne was going to look at the stuffed pork chops recipe and see what flavors those include
Dessert: Leftover chocolate cherry cake

SATURDAY I ATE

Morning Snack: Flatbread with hummus
Lunch: Flatbread wrap with pre-cooked steak from TJ’s, gorgonzola, hummus. Leftover cupcakes from the 5th grade graduation yesterday. Not that we have 5th grader, but somehow we got roped into helping with 5th grade graduation and got a stack of cupcakes in exchange
Afternoon snack: Cupcake. These things are really gross, with bright blue frosting, but we have lots
Dinner: Zacchary’s pizza, green salad
Dessert: Experimental chocolate cherry cake

SATURDAY I ATE

Breakfast: Granola, cranberry juice
Morning Snack: Donut holes. Aren’t pro hardware stores great?!
Lunch: A great selection of food at a 7 year old birthday party. There were some little meat pies with some Brazillian name, skewers of meat, fabulous guacamole. I should hang out in the park more often.
Afternoon snack: brownies.
Dinner: Went to The Cooperage in Lafayette. Split a brussels sprout and bacon salad (there was a poached egg involved, but not in my half of the split). Then, because they brought the kids margaritas instead of lemonade (without booze, but makes a funnier story to ignore that detail), they brought out a plate of their skillet Mac&Cheese. Seriously, I might head over there just to eat this dish on a cold night; it was in the running for the best Mac&Cheese ever. For our entre, we split the prime rib.
Dessert: We had a selection, including an individual s’mores skillet, a selection of doughnuts, and selection of ice cream sandwiches. The best was probably the chocolate cookie-coffee ice cream sandwich, though the s’mores skillet was fabulous as well.

All in all, a great meal. Last time I ate there, I had the burger, which was fine, but didn’t really differentiate the food. This meal was pretty impressive.

SATURDAY I ATE

Breakfast: Granola, cranberry juice
Lunch: Barney’s burgers. My eyes were not bigger than my stomach, but bigger than good sense would dictate. A Western burger, which I failed to split, more than my share of curly fries, and a chocolate milk shake.
Afternoon snack: See above. Still feeling it.
Dinner: Vegetable platter, bread and cheese, salad
Dessert: Leftover chocolate raspberry bundt cake

SUNDAY I ATE

Breakfast: Pancakes (Tessa made them)
Lunch: Roast beef, blue cheese, lettuce, and hummus on a pita
Dinner: Deep dish Mediterranean chicken pizza from Little Star. Their pizza is good, but still not as good as Zacchary’s. While others rave about the cornmeal crust, I think it is too crumbly
Dessert: Leftover cherry pie with ice cream. It was definitely better after a day for the flavors to mellow

SATURDAY I ATE

Breakfast: Hot tea, french toast
Morning Snack: Iced tea
Lunch: Ham and hummus pita wrap with carrots and cucumber
Afternoon snack: Chocolate chips, coke zero
Dinner: Perhaps my best iteration yet of the blue cheese stuffed burgers. We used a different type of blue cheese, from Trader Joe’s, rather than from Costco, which have different melting strategies. But the best part was cooking them sous vide. This really works a treat for stuffed burgers. The patties are so thin, that on the grill, they distort the shape a lot and often leak cheese. In the sous vide at 136F, they were perfectly cooked. Add in a brioche bun from TJ’s, some corn on the cob, and oven baked potatoes and they were amazing.

Dessert: An experimental cherry pie. It was OK, but too much booze (kirsch) gave it a weird sour flavor.

SUNDAY I ATE

Breakfast: Popovers that Tessa made out of the Pretend Soup cookbook
Morning Snack: Ritz crackers and a red cheese
Lunch: Chicken saltimboca with asparagus, green salad and rolls. Plus eclairs for dessert.
Afternoon snack: Java chip Frappuccino. It was “Frappuccino Happy Hour” so couldn’t resist
Dinner: Pizza with dried cherries, roasted garlic, prosciutto, and blue cheese
Dessert:
