We’re getting really excited about Thanksgiving this year. We’ve put together a tentative schedule to help everyone plan their time here. We have a few ideas for other activities as well:
- California Academy of Sciences
- Walk Across the Bay Bridge
- Muir Woods Hike
- Ice Skating
- Movie (Dad suggests The Good Dinosaur)
Let us know what sounds interesting to you, and we’ll try to squeeze it into our schedule. Please let us know if there are other outings you’d like to add.
We’ve also set up a very short survey about food choices. It would be great if you could fill it out here: http://goo.gl/forms/6q9EQ8nq7E
Evening: Pizza at the rental house (705 Hillside Avenue)
We’ll order from Zacchary’s. Looking at the survey, we’ll get a couple of stuffed spinach & mushrooms, a carne, a bbq chicken, and some thin pizzas for the kids. Plus some salad
Morning: Hike at the Albany Bulb, a nearby former landfill / artists’ colony. The trail is flat and pretty smooth in most places. Great views of the parts of the bay that most folks don’t get to see (Costco, the race track), and only half a mile from the rental house
Maybe order Chinese takeout from Renee’s Place to eat while we prep dinner. Totally open to other options.
Afternoon: Dinner prep at Moose & Suzanne’s (629 Talbot Avenue) and at rental house.
Dinner – 6:30 pm: Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, cranberries, rolls, pie. Did I miss anything?
See the shopping list here:
Morning: Nearest Walmart is in Richmond, at Hilltop. Probably a 15 minute drive, but maybe faster at 0500 if you want to get the doorbusters. After that, I assume everyone will go to Starbucks or Peet’s or something…
This might be a good time for the Bay Bridge walk, about 6 miles round trip. There’s a place where we could drop some people off closer to save a mile or two.
Afternoon (2:30 pm – 5:30 pm): Family photo shoot (with professional photographer) in Tilden Park.
10:00 am – 11:00 am: Pick up sandwiches and depart for Oakland waterfront
11:00 am – 2:00 pm: Boat ride on the San Francisco bay… dress warmly.
