MONDAY I ATE

Breakfast: Granola, cranberry juice
Morning Snack: Apple
Lunch: Leftover pizza
Afternoon snack: Diet pepsi. Also a random piece of the chocolate cake that was sitting in the student lounge where the soda machine lives
Dinner: Grilled buttermilk chicken, roasted potatoes, green beans, green salad. Brilliant idea today: the buttermilk chicken soaks in a bath of buttermilk, garlic and shallots. Normally, I just chuck this once the chicken is on the grill. Since we were low on garlic to roast with the potatoes, I strained the vegetables out of the marinade, rinsed them, and roasted them for 20 minutes. They were fabulous.
Dessert: Hot cocoa is honor of the first fall-feeling day. With frozen whipped cream blobs Suzanne was experimenting with.

Afternoon snack: Misc candy and a snowcone at the Solano Stroll
Dinner: Pizza from Costco. Green salad

SATURDAY I ATE

Breakfast: Hot tea
Morning Snack: Crackers with hummus
Lunch: Noodle bowl and a spicy tuna roll at Manpuku in Elmwood. Pretty much exactly as advertised on Yelp… reasonable quality sushi and pretty good prices. Big bowls of noodles. We’ll be back.
Afternoon snack: Coke zero, leftover York peppermint patties from Easter.
Dinner: Burger, roasted potatoes, leftover asparagus. Green salad. I switched it up this time and stuffed the burger with Gruyere cheese and some chopped up salami. It was fabulous with some Grey Poupon.

Dessert: Leftover cupcakes. Yes, plural. That last one looked so lonely and they were getting stale.

MONDAY I ATE

Labor Day
Breakfast: Granola, cranberry juice
Morning Snack: Small slice of pizza
Lunch: Split a thai chicken crepe and a ceasar salad at the Crepevine. I think this place is OK, but nothing more than that. The flavors are fairly bland, and the service is pretty bad. This is the second time that they’ve forgotten one of the kid’s orders. Iced tea.
Afternoon snack: York peppermint patties. Leftover from Easter.
Dinner: Leftover Zacchary’s pizza
Dessert: Tessa mint chocolate cupcake

Afternoon snack: Iced tea, chocolate chip cookie
Dinner: Zacchary’s stuffed spinach and mushroom pizza, Ceasar salad
Dessert: Tessa’s mint chocolate cupcakes

SATURDAY I ATE

Breakfast: Doughnuts. Split a custard bomb with Tessa. Orange juice
Lunch: Sandwich of leftover chicken saltimbocca with cheddar cheese
Afternoon snack: Soft serve ice cream dipped in chocolate. Hello, 4th grade, I missed you. At Lake Anza. Shared with Tessa, and a lot of it dripped on my leg.
Dinner: A serious stroke of brilliance, though this experiment still needs some work. Chicken saltimbocca pizza. Caramelized an onion, with white wine and some lemon juice towards the end. Used that as the base of the pizza, then added the last of the leftover chicken, along with some prosciutto. Topped with grueyere cheese and sage. We ate it with a kale salad with a dressing of lemon juice, lemon zest, and olive oil. While we were eating, we decided that the kale salad was just what the pizza needed on top. Might experiment with this, or might add the kale before baking.
Dessert: Tessa and Suzanne made mint chocolate cupcakes with mint frosting. Awesome! I had two.
