SUNDAY I ATE

Breakfast: Pancakes. Eliza tried new recipe from King Arthur Flour book.

Morning Snack: Some more experimental sweet pumpkin bread.

LunchHot dog from the cart in front of The Exploratorium. Since when does a hot dog cost Eight Fucking Dollars? It wasn’t even a good hot dog, just a limp tube of meat on a soggy bun. Five piers down, there were vendors grilling that shit up fresh, wrapped in bacon with grilled onions on the side. I was frankly disappointed.

Afternoon snack: Thin mints. Iced tea. A few pieces of popcorn out of Tessa’s bag.

Dinner:  Leftover experimental meatloaf muffins.

SUNDAY I ATE

Breakfast: Cinnamon waffles a la Eliza

LunchCalifornia crepe from Crepevine. There are a lot of great spots around Berkeley, but I always have a soft spot for this one since the original opened up right where we used to live in the City. This worked out to be a good choice, since they had a broad menu with hamburgers for the kids.

Afternoon snack:  Gelato from Caravaggio in Berkeley. Very fresh and tasty.

Dinner:  Butternut squash risotto

Dessert: A leftover cookie and a Nordstom caramel (thanks, Papa John)

SATURDAY I ATE

Breakfast:  Grapenuts, cranberry juice, many, many strawberries

LunchChicken sandwich.

Afternoon snack:  Scraps of chocolate cake that Suzanne was baking

Dinner:  Pizza from Little Star at the “dinner with Albany” event. They close down Solano, and 3,000 people eat in the street. We went with Daniel and Gita and family. We got heavily into the table decoration, going for a Solano Stroll carnival theme, but didn’t quite get it done in time for the judges

Dessert: A totally amazing carousel cake as part of the decorations. Suzanne probably won’t post it to flourarrangements, but it was totally awesome. Palomi’s friends kept stopping by asking for some, and finally, she and Eliza just took slices on the road and handed them out.

SUNDAY I ATE

Breakfast: Grapenuts, cranberry juice, strawberries.

LunchChicken sandwich

Afternoon snack: Chocolate bark, Coke Zero

Dinner: Homemade spaghetti with Bolognaise sauce. Made the pasta from Vegetarian Cooking for Everyone. It required a lot more water than the recipe called for and it still didn’t come together easily. On the other hand, it wasn’t sticky at all, and it tasted great.

Dessert: Eliza made special mint brownies

SATURDAY I ATE

Breakfast: Donuts. Specifically, custard filled chocolate bar. From All Star Donuts.

Lunch: Bolognaise sandwich on Suzanne’s bread. This is an amazing use of cold bolognaise sauce.

Afternoon snack: Ice cream cone… a little bit of chocolate bark… Coke Zero.

Dinner: Thai food at Bua Luang. First time… the girls were both at a birthday party (a sleepover for Eliza, though Tessa came home before bedtime). The pumpkin curry was exceptional, but the eggplant was a little tough.

Dessert:

SUNDAY I ATE

Breakfast: Grapenuts, cranberry juice, strawberries. Lots of strawberries.

Morning Snack: Red cheese

LunchChicken sandwich from one of the booths at the Solano Stroll… There were a lot of options, but sadly, when we were hungry for lunch we were in an area of the street that had less good options. Next year: be up at the top of the stroll at lunch time.

Afternoon snack:  Gourmet popsicle from Popnation cart. These were pretty awesome, though it depended on the flavvor. By far, my favorite was the strawberry lemonade.

Dinner:  Gorgonzola -stuffed burgers. This time, I remembered the bacon, too.

Dessert:  S’mores tart… the photo version
