SATURDAY I ATE

Breakfast: Hot tea
Morning Snack: Popovers with peanut butter
Lunch: Leftover noodle cake, half a ham sandwich, apple with peanut butter, carrots
Afternoon snack: Coke zero, half a pear, TJ’s peanut butter cups
Dinner: Grilled teriyaki chicken, a soy sauce-sesame noodle dish suzanne whipped up, corn on the cob. There was also a mango salsa that was supposed to go on the chicken, but didn’t go well with the noodles, which were pretty awesome
Dessert: Eliza whipped up some chocolate chip cookies to make ice cream sandwiches. She’s a real baker now. When she discovered that there was not much brown sugar, she didn’t even blanch. She just said “well, can’t we just add molasses to regular sugar?” Yes, you can baker girl. Then, when we were out of chocolate chips, that was a bit more stressful, but we ended up chopping up the bar of Guittard chocolate and all was well. The cookies lay pretty flat (maybe the molasses, maybe the fact that it was 85 F in the kitchen), but they were delicious.

SUNDAY I ATE

Breakfast:
Morning Snack: Bread and apple, both with peanut butter
Lunch: BBQ bacon burger from Cafe 152 in Gilroy. This was a very good burger, and their chipotle ketchup was a great find. The onion ring on the burger was so good that I wished I’d ordered a plate of them. The french fries were a touch soggy
Afternoon snack: Some chips and dip as we prepped dinner
Dinner: Pork tenderloin and some lamb tips from TJ’s. Also green beans and rice
Dessert: A selection of ice cream desserts from TJ’s including little cones, mini ice cream sandwiches, and bon bons. Also a couple of Flourarrangements experimental chocolate cookies. Also a coke zero to wile away a long late night drive

SATURDAY I ATE

Breakfast: Granola, cranberry juice
Morning Snack: Donut holes. Aren’t pro hardware stores great?!
Lunch: A great selection of food at a 7 year old birthday party. There were some little meat pies with some Brazillian name, skewers of meat, fabulous guacamole. I should hang out in the park more often.
Afternoon snack: brownies.
Dinner: Went to The Cooperage in Lafayette. Split a brussels sprout and bacon salad (there was a poached egg involved, but not in my half of the split). Then, because they brought the kids margaritas instead of lemonade (without booze, but makes a funnier story to ignore that detail), they brought out a plate of their skillet Mac&Cheese. Seriously, I might head over there just to eat this dish on a cold night; it was in the running for the best Mac&Cheese ever. For our entre, we split the prime rib.
Dessert: We had a selection, including an individual s’mores skillet, a selection of doughnuts, and selection of ice cream sandwiches. The best was probably the chocolate cookie-coffee ice cream sandwich, though the s’mores skillet was fabulous as well.

All in all, a great meal. Last time I ate there, I had the burger, which was fine, but didn’t really differentiate the food. This meal was pretty impressive.
