SATURDAY I ATE

Breakfast: Granola, cranberry juice
Morning Snack: Donut holes. Aren’t pro hardware stores great?!
Lunch: A great selection of food at a 7 year old birthday party. There were some little meat pies with some Brazillian name, skewers of meat, fabulous guacamole. I should hang out in the park more often.
Afternoon snack: brownies.
Dinner: Went to The Cooperage in Lafayette. Split a brussels sprout and bacon salad (there was a poached egg involved, but not in my half of the split). Then, because they brought the kids margaritas instead of lemonade (without booze, but makes a funnier story to ignore that detail), they brought out a plate of their skillet Mac&Cheese. Seriously, I might head over there just to eat this dish on a cold night; it was in the running for the best Mac&Cheese ever. For our entre, we split the prime rib.
Dessert: We had a selection, including an individual s’mores skillet, a selection of doughnuts, and selection of ice cream sandwiches. The best was probably the chocolate cookie-coffee ice cream sandwich, though the s’mores skillet was fabulous as well.

All in all, a great meal. Last time I ate there, I had the burger, which was fine, but didn’t really differentiate the food. This meal was pretty impressive.

SATURDAY I ATE

Morning Snack: Chocolate pancake
Lunch: Ham and cheese sandwich with avocado
Afternoon snack: Beer. It was such a beautiful afternoon, you’d never guess it was still the middle of winter
Dinner: Caper chicken pasta at friends’ house. Must make this… pan fry strips of chicken. saute garlic and green onion in butter, add cream and creme fraische and simmer for a bit. Add capers (or sun dried tomatoes, or whatever) along with parmasean. Add back chicken and boiled pene.
Dessert: Eliza’s mint brownies

MONDAY I ATE

Lunch: Leftover turkey pot pie
Afternoon snack: Leftover peppermint brownies eaten out at the end of the Bay Bridge. Tessa’s first time doing that ride all by herself.
Dinner: Tacos. We were in the checkout line when we realized we forgot the taco seasoning. So we turned to that classic tome of Mexican cuisine: The Joy of Cooking. The taco recipe includes a can of tomato sauce, which seemed weird. At the end of the day, with the addition of a little extra chili powder, they were fantastic.
Dessert:  Flourarrangements lemon bars. The photo edition.

SATURDAY I ATE

Breakfast: Pancakes. Tried mixing the batter with an electric whisk to make it pour better (for artistic reasons) but they ended up really rubbery.
Lunch: Turkey sandwich with hummus
Afternoon snack: chocolate chips, coke zero
Dinner: Turkey pot pie… with biscuits instead of crust.
Dessert: Eliza’s mint brownies
